Easy Turkish Pide Bread

What is Turkish Pide Bread?

Making a homemade Turkish Pide Bread is really easy… Who doesn’t love a delicious Turkish Pide Bread? And if you’ve never had one before then you’re in for a treat! It’s usually hard to find it in regular supermarkets, but always in Turkish shops. That is of course, if you don’t already live in Turkey, haha.

It’s really tasty, along with soft and airy. I adore this bread, and that’s why I want you to try it! You are going to love it, especially if you make it with vegan gyros, vegan kebab or hummus. Ooh, it’s SO good!!

To make this bread fluffy and airy, you need to let it rest twice. Since it’s a no-knead recipe, it’s going to look very moist at the beginning, so don’t freak out, and let it rest. It will eventually turn into a tasty bread!

You can also replace the topping with whatever you like.

Dry Ingredients
  • all-purpose flour
  • salt
  • sugar (except if you’re using agave syrup like me)
Wet Ingredients
  • water with instant yeast
  • agave syrup
  • olive oil

Step by Step

I will show you how to make this delicious recipe, easy and clear.

Step 1:

Whisk together the dry ingredients in a big bowl. Bring another small bowl, and add the wet ingredients. This consists of water, instant yeast, agave syrup and olive oil. Stir together, and the yeast will immediately start to dissolve, and the mixture will become silky. That’s how you know the yeast is active. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

Step 2:

Pour the stirred wet ingredients little by little into the whisked dry ingredients. Use a wood spoon to mix together while you pour in the wet ingredients.

No need for kneading the dough. It’s going to be very moist but don’t worry that’s how it should be. After done mixing, cover the dough lightly with a towel or plastic wrap, and leave it for an hour at room temperature.

Step 3:

Sprinkle flour on a dry surface, and place the dough on it. Start forming it into a thick rectangle using your hand.

Step 4:

Transfer the dough to lay on a baking sheet, and cover it with a plastic wrap, and let it rest for about 30-40 minutes until it has doubled again in size.

Draw diagonal lines using a knife or your fingertips, brush the dough with olive oil, sprinkle the sesame seeds or any topping you want, and finally bake it for 12 minutes.

Let it cool before serving. You’re gonna LOVE IT!! Enjoy and let me know in the comments below if you tried it out. I can’t wait to read your comments!!
