Absolutely! Oats themselves are vegan, so it’s all in the ingredients you use to make it. You can use water to get a creamier results but I think using the right milk, and cooking the oatmeal correctly will give you the creaminess you want.

To get a super creamy result, you need to use a milk with fat in it. In this case you need to use canned coconut milk, it’s thicker, creamy and has a nice amount of healthy fat but it’s still thin enough to give moisture to the oats.

Oatmeal is considered to be one of the healthiest breakfast options that’s a nutritional powerhouse, rich in antioxidants, it lowers cholesterol, and so much more.

Is it better to use milk or water?

You can use either one. But milk definitely makes for a creamier consistency. If you want that creamy consistency without using milk, add a mashed banana into the oatmeal when it’s almost done.

  • vanilla extract
  • maple syrup, rice syrup or agave
  • cinnamon
  • coconut milk,water or non-dairy milk
  • salt

How to make the perfect Vegan oatmeal breakfast
  1. In a small saucepan, bring the milk or water, and salt to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once it’s boiling, add vanilla extract, maple syrup,and cinnamon. Stir in the oats and reduce the heat to low.
  3. Let the oatmeal simmer for 5 minutes or until it reaches your desired consistency. Make sure to stir occasionally.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat, cover with a lid, then let it rest for a few minutes. If they look too dry, stir in a splash more liquid.
  5. Serve it with your favorite toppings.
